Jennifer Shennan (Wellington dance writer and critic)
Ian Lochhead (Christchurch art historian)

Russian dancer Anna Pavlova's 1926 tour of New Zealand—performing in Christchurch with 50 dancers and a 22-piece orchestra—left an indelible mark on audiences and New Zealand culture. Wellington dance writer and critic Jennifer Shennan and Christchurch art historian Ian Lochhead examine Pavlova's repertoire, tour impact, and the reactions of local audiences.

The illustrated presentation includes video clips of Pavlova performing and an interview with Sir Frederick Ashton, the British choreographer who credited seeing Pavlova dance as life-changing. Part of the Christchurch Heritage Festival.
