Monica Macansantos

Monica Macansantos shares her writing journey and reads from her essay collection Returning to My Father's Kitchen and story collection Love and Other Rituals, with emcee Becky Buada. Her work explores Filipino immigrant life in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Macansantos earned her PhD in Creative Writing from Victoria University's International Institute of Modern Letters and her MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. Her essays and stories have appeared in Colorado Review, The Hopkins Review, Electric Literature, Lit Hub, and other publications.
