Auckland Launch of Against the Tide: Aotearoa New Zealand in World Affairs, Volume V, 2006-2025
The New Zealand Institute of International Affairs launches the fifth volume of Against the Tide: Aotearoa New Zealand in World Affairs, a flagship research publication examining New Zealand's engagement in global affairs over two decades. The event features presentations, discussion, and Q&A from the book's editors and expert contributors exploring what is new and what is long-running in New Zealand's international relations, set against rapid geopolitical, economic, technological, and climate shifts.
Contributors include Sir Peter Gluckman (President of the International Science Council), trade policy experts Stephanie Honey and Mia Mikic, Catherine Grant Makokera (Executive Director of NZIIA), Hema Sridhar (defence and national security advisor), and Jason Paul Mika and Carrie Stoddart-Smith, who bring Māori and Indigenous perspectives on business and trade. The volume offers historical context and practical insights for policymakers, academics, and students.
